Exporting Invoice Data Via Quicken .QIF Files

Top  Previous  Next

Since so many of our customers use QuickenTM, we've designed Time Logger to export .QIF files, which may be read by Quicken.  Each time you post an invoice, the invoice data (Client, Amount, etc.) is placed in a Quicken .QIF file.  You may then import the data into Quicken from this file.

To enable this feature, choose Tools/Global Options/General and check option Export Invoice Data for Import Into Quicken.  Once this feature is enabled, Time Logger will add invoice information to a .QIF file each time you post an invoice to Accounts Receivable.

The information will be exported to the file "INVOICES.QIF" in the directory to which you installed Time Logger.

Time Logger exports the Date, Amount, Invoice Number, Client Name, and A/R Category to this file.  A/R Category is a field that you may specify for each client (Choose Edit/Edit Client Information).  It is the Quicken category to which you wish the invoice assigned (for example, "Prof Fees").  Time Logger also adds a memo consisting of the words "From Time Logger."

Once you've posted an invoice, you can start up Quicken and choose Import from Quicken's File menu.  In the window that appears, select the .QIF file that Time Logger exported to, and select OK.  Quicken will then add the transaction to the current Account.
