----------------------------------------

INSTALL TIME LOGGER TO NEW PALM HANDHELD

----------------------------------------

1) Transfer any remaining Time Logger Time Records and/or Descriptor data from your Old Palm handheld to your Desktop.

2) Get your new Palm software installed on your Desktop (follow their directions) and get your New Palm handheld to HotSync with your Desktop (but not yet attempting to use Time Logger).

3) Download and run the setuptimelogger.exe file and specify to install the Palm Interface for Responsive Time Logger on the Select Components screen AND install Time Logger to the same location on your Desktop (see  WHERE IS TIME LOGGER INSTALLED? below).  Note that this will ensure that you get the latest versions of Time Logger for both the Desktop and Palm.

4) On your Desktop, select:

START->Program Files->Responsive Time Logger->Install Time Logger to the Handheld

This will "schedule" (using the Palm Install Tool) the TimeLog.prc (the program file for the file RESPONSIVE TIME LOGGER PALM INTERFACE) to be Hotsynced to your Palm device the next time you perform a Hotsync.  Thus, the next time you Hotsync, the software will be installed on your Palm (but not your corresponding data from your computer) and each successive Hotsync will transfer your data between your computer and the Palm device.

5) Perform a HotSync

6) Responsive Time Logger should now be on your new Palm OS Handheld.  You should also look at your Custom HotSync options for Time Logger to verify they are correct.

A) Right-click the Hotsync icon

B) Select "Custom"

C) Click the down-arrow for the list box at the top of the "Custom" window.  If there are multiple profiles or users listed then examine the settings for "Time Logger" by following these steps for each profile/user:

i) Select a profile/user

ii) click "Time Logger" in the list so it is highlighted

iii) click the <Change> button

iv) On the "Action" tab, verify that the actions for the "Time Records" and "Descriptors" are correct.

NOTES:

1) the default for each is "Synchronize".

2) When you change one of the HotSync options for either the Time Records or the Descriptor Files, the change is ONLY in effect for the NEXT Hotsync.

3) If you want to change the HotSync options for all successive HotSyncs, make sure the "Set as Default" checkbox is checked.

v) On the "Descriptor Files" tab, verify that the "Current Descriptor File:" is correct (read NOTE below).  You can change that file by selecting the second radio option and then click the <Browse> button to select a different file.

NOTE:  The Descriptor Database/File should match between the Custom HotSync settings and the Desktop version of Time Logger.  To verify, start Time Logger and follow the directions below in WHERE IS TIME LOGGER INSTALLED?  The "Descriptor Database:" output by Advanced-Diagnostics should match.

vi) On the "Time Records Files" tab, verify that the "Current File:" is correct (read NOTE below).  You can change that file by selecting the second radio option and then click the <Browse> button to select a different file.

NOTE:  The Time Records Database/File should match between the Custom HotSync settings and the Desktop version of Time Logger.  To verify, start Time Logger and follow the directions below in WHERE IS TIME LOGGER INSTALLED?  The "Current Database:" output by Advanced-Diagnostics should match.

WHERE IS TIME LOGGER INSTALLED?

------------------------

Time Logger is installed to a folder, whose location is defined or written as a "drive" (C:) and "path" (\Program Files\TimeLog) on your computer.  The default location or folder is:

C:\Program Files\TimeLog

However, the exact location could have been changed during the installation process.

To determine where the Time Logger that you are currently running is installed select the menu option:

Advanced->Diagnostics

At the top of the window that opens, the 3rd line down (Main Directory) indicates the folder where Responsive Time Logger is currently installed.  The example below indicates that Responsive Time Logger is installed in the "C:\Program Files\TimeLog" folder.  [Note that the final \ character after "TimeLog" does not need to appear in the Destination Folder in the Installation program, or when you designate the Time Logger folder for other applications.]

Below is sample output from the Advanced->Diagnostics option:
