Let's say you are sending out an invoice to AR Software for $2,937.00.  The date is 4/25/95 and the invoice is invoice number 5.  When you filled out the client data for AR Software, you specified an A/R Category of "Prof Fees/p".

After you post the invoice, you open Quicken, and select the account called "Accts Rcvble."  You then choose File/Import, select the INVOICES.QIF file, and select OK.  You'll find that a new transaction has appeared in your Accts Rcvble account.  It looks something like this:


Note that all of the fields have been filled in properly -- Date, Reference, Payee, Category, etc.
